How to Participate in PEIC-2024

Are you ready to take your business to the next level? Participating in the Private Equity Investment Challenge (PEIC-2024) by David Haig Associates Inc. could be your ticket to securing the resources you need to propel your venture forward. Here’s how you can get involved:

1. Review Eligibility Criteria and Rules

Before submitting your application, ensure that your business meets the eligibility criteria and Rules outlined in the section “Rules”.

2. Prepare Your Executive Summary

Craft a compelling 2-3 page non-confidential executive summary based on “Rules” section.

3. Submission Process

Submit your executive summary via email to “peic@davidhaig.ca”, clearly indicating “For PEIC-2024” in the subject line.

4. Deadline

The deadline for submissions is May 24. Late submissions will not be considered, so make sure to submit your application on time.

5. Selection Process

After the submission deadline, all applications will undergo a thorough review process. The top 10 finalists will be announced and contacted directly by July 08. Please make sure that the contact information is correct so that we can contact you directly.

  • Application Period: The PEIC 2024 project will commence accepting applications on March 18. Applications will remain open until May 24.
  • Review Process: From May 27 to Jun 30, all received applications will undergo a thorough review by David Haig Associates Inc.
  • Selection of Top 10: Following the review period, the ten most promising applications will be identified as finalists.
  • Announcement of Finalists: On July 01, the ten selected finalist companies will be publicly announced on the project website.
  • Communication with Finalists: Subsequently, the ten finalist companies will be individually contacted regarding their selection. Please make sure that the contact information is correct so that we can contact you directly.
  • Submission of Detailed Files: Finalist companies will be given until July 08 to provide additional detailed files and information related to their applications. Failure to submit the required documentation by this deadline will result in disqualification.
  • Jury Evaluation: Following the submission deadline, the project jury will meticulously evaluate the remaining companies based on their submissions.
  • Winner Announcement: The winner of the PEIC 2024 project will be officially announced on July 26.

1. Eligibility Criteria

The PEIC-2024 is open to private corporations, limited liability companies, and sole proprietorships regardless of major.

The pre-money valuation of the applying entity must not exceed 20.0 million USD.

This challenge is not open to applications from financial intermediaries.

2. Submission Guidelines

Interested parties must submit a non-confidential executive summary via email to “peic@davidhaig.ca” with the subject line “For PEIC-2024.”

The executive summary should be 2-3 pages long (excluding the title page), single-spaced, in 12-point Arial font.

Additionally, include a finance section not exceeding 1 page.

  • Title Page
  • Maximum 2-3 pages of content
  • 1 page Finance

Submissions must be in DOC or PDF format, not exceeding 5MB in size.

3. Content Requirements

Essential details to include in the executive summary:

  • Company name, location, and contact information.
  • Description of the product or service.
  • Market needs and competitive landscape.
  • Customer acquisition strategy.
  • Key management background.
  • Development stage and financial projections.
  • Capital requirements and current capitalization structure.

4. Evaluation Process

Only the first 3 pages (excluding the title page and finance page) of each submission will be reviewed.

Submissions will be evaluated based on innovation, scalability, and the strength of the leadership team.

Additional FAQs for the PEIC-2024 project:

There are no specific sectors or industries, indicating that businesses from any sector or industry are eligible for consideration. Regardless of sector or industry, every company whose pre-money valuation of the applying entity does not exceed 20.0 million USD can apply.

There are no restrictions regarding the geographic location of applicants.

The competition is open to companies at all stages of development so long as pre-money evaluation does not exceed $20 million USD.

Funds should be used to promote sales and growth and for working capital.

Investment funds may not be used to pay down existing debt or purchase real estate.

The option is there and will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

The contest is limited to one application per business venture or principle. If multiple entries are submitted they will all be deleted.

There are no specific qualifications or experience requirements for the management team, however, the management team should display the ability (knowledge and experience) necessary to achieve their goals.

During the initial phase of the process, applicants should not provide any intellectual property or confidential information that they would not normally share with the public if they reach the second phase an NDA will be signed before confidential information is requested.

There are no fees or costs associated with participating in the PEIC-2024.

Yes, businesses that have previously secured funding or received support from other investors or organizations are indeed eligible to apply.

There are no restrictions for businesses in the process of patenting or trademarking their products/services.

Businesses with existing debt or financial liabilities are eligible for consideration but they must be able to demonstrate how they will be able to meet these obligations.

The award is based on the overall score of the business.  Businesses in these sectors are welcome to apply but must show the same opportunity for sales and growth as any other business.
